Review

It is not easy for MuteMath to top the their masterpiece - the self-titled CD that came in 2006, a record that I am rewarded with five stars. A record that still stands as one of the best records in the 2000s century if you ask me. But MuteMath is a fantastic band. And they are looking forward rather than backward on the new album and dare to take the sound even wider ... In 2006, the disc was based on synths and the futuristic sound that was most prominent and there is an obvious part of the new album too, but the band has even dared to borrow a lot of retro-scented influences and it has given the band an added dimension. It can be nothing else is to be amazed at this band and their musical ambitions. On the third song "Blood Pressure"  the band takes us on a trip to the psychedelic and progressive early 70's and the "Quarantine" continues the flirtation with the psychedelic 60's and 70's mixed with their modern instruments. I can just back bow and bend to the fact that MuteMath once again made a record that is nothing less than superb. Easily top 3 of 2011. Even perhaps number 1. Amazing.

Did you know that?

Former Rainbow keyboard player David Rosenthal auditioned for Dream Theater but Derek Sherinian was the lucky one.
