Review

Ian Tanner started his musical career in christian rock bands like The Awakening (1985-1989) and One Hundred Days (1990-2000), and after OHD split up, Ian worked as a producer and in 2009 he released his first solo album "Things to never say out loud". This year, his 2nd solo album "Italian waffles and scotch" came out and it´s nice 70´s powerpop album filled with plenty of harmony changes that would make Jellyfish proud. Just listen to "Undisclosed" and you´ll know what I mean, but the album´s uneven I´m afraid because his vocal performance doesn´t come out for the best on tracks like "Father like son" and "Ten cartwheels". But when Ian is showing strength in his songwriting like the Jellyfish-like "This started out a love song", his voice sounds so much better. The song "My situation" sounds like Jean Beauvoir on a picnic with Dan Reed, very cool. The best song is "Bitter" that in fact bring thoughts to Genesis Calling all stations album, pure progressive stuff.

Did you know that?

July For Kings named their national debut album SWIM (in honor of their former band name).

They were originally called Vice to change to Swim and then finally to July For Kings.
