New York based trio The Library Is On Fire cannot be accused of being predictable, anything can happen along the way when you listen to their new album "Works on paper". They love to flirt with varied styles such as folk, indie, garage, punk and psychedelic pop. This is an uneven album and I don´t fancy their garage rock moments but do enjoy the more artsy songs like the trilogy "Hypnos waking/Hypnos waiting/Hypnos returns". Another cool song is "Basquiat" that can be described as Ash meets Feeder, the melancholic pop of "Fly sucka on the score" bring thoughts to Death Cab For Cutie while "Jewels in yr eyes" sounds like something Johnny Cash could´ve written. We also get to hear the band in a Beatles mood on tracks like "Stupid summer morning" and "They don´t know you like I know you". It´s a decent album, nothing more.
