I can really understand that Maroon 5 and their label A&M / Octone really want to have the band in the spotlight. The band is one of the largest on the pop scene and has sold over 10 million records, just in the U.S. And with the new album they'll probably be even bigger and sell more albums because it is filled with hits and the band has taken a more modern sound.
However, I think that they have lost all soul and there are not much left of the organic and very warm sound they had on their debut "Songs About Jane." Now they have been writing songs with Max Martin, and Shellback, which of course cannot be good. It’s over-produced, cold and the songs are all on a very low level, where only the first single "Payhone" is worth listening to. The terrible "Tickets" is the worst song they have ever wrote, and "Doin 'Dirt" is not much better either. No, “Overexposed” is a huge disappointment, and perhaps saddest "big" record since Chris Cornell and his terrible "Scream" the last years. Avoid!
