Review

Damon Johnson is perhaps a new name to many, but he has had a long and good career. The first success came with Brother Cane that between 1993 and 1998 released three good hard rock / grunge albums on Virgin Records.Since then he has been the guitarist for the likes of Alice Cooper, John Waite and Thin Lizzy, so it's a man with a broad talent.

He has also managed to drop a couple of solo albums where the acoustic Dust from 2000 is nice one, worth checking up even if it is a rarity these days.

This album follows the same track and should more or less be seen as an acoustic album. There is some production in a couple of tracks, but overall, it's only Damon and his guitar in a country style format. However, it does not matter that much as he is an awesome singer and guitarist, which can be heard on tracks like "Everyday" and "Relase (Hard Rain Comin')".

But even he’s got a great voice, Release feels a little rough in its sound where several of the tracks feel a bit too demo sounding for my taste. The album also contains a handful of "standard track" at the end, which lower the rating a bit, but it might be interesting if you’re a die hard Brother Cane fan.

Did you know that?

Rikki Rocket of Poison once shot and killed a 9-point Buck from his drum riser during an outdoor show in Montana. The band was fined $1,500.
