Review

We're gonna add some classic cuts from the old days when Melodic.net was called Midwestern Skies. So please enjoy. This one is from 1998 when Jake Samuels from The Poodles wasn't that famous...

Listen up people who adore the tougher side of the melodic hardrock field. The Swedish outfit Jekyll&Hyde is a qualitybased rock’n’roll band who plays their quite own style of sleazier hardrock with a lot of modern overtones. It’s well produced and the leadsinger, Jake Samuel (who drummed on 2 Talisman - tours) have a good voice for this type of melodic metal. The problem as I can see it is their lack of hitsongs. I have listened to the album a couple of times, and not more than two songs have stayed up in my head, third out ‘Best Of Me’ and "Blood On My Hands" that would have been a hit if Guns N Roses recorded it. Jekyll&Hyde is high quality though - no doubt. And definately something to spend your money on if you’re into the tougher side of the melodic hardrock. We won’t see the band on any lists though.

Did you know that?

Duran Duran — The band played at Birmingham´s Barberella´s nightclub so took their name from the villain of the cult Science Fiction film Barbarella, Dr. Durand-Durand.
