P.O.D "Light" is what you can call this 5 piece christian rap/numetal band from Sweden,their debut "Shine" is recorded in Orebro,the home of skatepunkers Millencolin,the rising stars USER,respected metallers of Wolf and the great AOR act Crystal Blue,some of the members in Mammuth comes from this hot new rock city on the map of Sweden and this is just the beginning. To call these guys a lighter version of P.O.D doesn?t mean that they are lousy....ohno,it?s just that P.O.D have a little more muscle and energy in their music.
Mammuth?s music is very similar to the factory made product of Tribal Ink but Mammuth feels more real and actually have good songs on the album which is pretty much lost in Tribal ink?s numetal.
Singer Daniel has a little weak voice for this kinda agressive rock but he?s got a good sense for melodies even though they could?ve worked a little harder on some of the songs,I don?t like when it?s too much a la Rage against the machine like in "Good morning christianity" and "Keep the focus" but when the do keep the focus(!) and show their nice side of great riffrockers,Mammuth really rocks the *hell* out of you which I read in another review. "Don?t be afraid" is such a track with a gigantic hard rock riff,Mammuth rock for sure and the title track "Shine" is without doubt the best track on the album.
They managed to write fab melodies mixed up with a fascinating arrangement that takes the song to a higher level compared to the rest of the stuff. With a little more flesh and bone in their music on the next album,these guys can go real far.
