Review

The Dutch quintet Delphian is here with their follow up to their debut album Oracle(2005) named Unravel. Behind this Dutch band you will find Sun Caged drummer Roel van Helden and are fronted by the female singer Aniek Janssen. This is progressive metal with epic rock influences in the bottom and I don´t know but I think they wanna try to follow the success of Evanescence, Within Temptation and After Forever but they don’t´come up near of those acts. Aniek has a Ok voice but she don´t come up to the same level as the singers in the mentioned bands. Out of the 8 songs that are on the album I just think couple of them holds a interesting level. Some of the songs a bit complex to catch my attention and even if Aniek sings nice her voice gets to much in couple of songs like on the Sleepless Lullaby were she don´t sing good. The production is good and I don´t have anything to complain on. Out of the 8 tracks there is parts on couple of songs that finds to my music heart but the whole songs don´t catch my attention at all but they leave the best to the end. Yes, the last song Air is a wonderful duet between Aniek and Leon Brouwer. Leon has a strong voice that reminds of Geoff Tate(Queensryche) and he really gives this song an extra touch. This is a strong song that starts as a semi-ballad with nice piano sound and with strong hooklines that is over 10 minutes long with twist and turns and after couple of minutes turns out to a epic rocker. There´s couple of moments that are good on this album but it don´t hold all the way. I don´t own their debut album so I can´t compare these releases. More songs in the same quality as Air then were talking.

Did you know that?

"Blink" was a term that represented the word fuck. The members of Blink 182 used to attend Rancho Bernardo High, until they were expelled and sent to RB´s rival school, Poway High School. The letter R is the 18th letter in the alphabet, and B is the 2nd, hence Blink 182 stands for "Fuck" RB.
