Vendetta is a new band that hails from England and was formed in 2006 by guitarist/singer Edward Box. Mr.Box has released 2 instrumental solo albums earlier and now he wanted to broaden his musical base and return to the roots of his obsession - traditional melodic metal. This is a nice album that these guys have come up with and they deliver heavy melodic guitar oriented hardrock/metal with strong songs. I was surprised how good they sounded and the majority of the 12 tracks are really good with nice hooks and arrangements.
Mr. Box has a good strong voice and makes these songs sound more than good, this is nothing new under the sun - just very traditional melodic hardrock with a twist of metal but they do it very well. Just listen to "Doorways Of The Mind" ,turn up the speakers and enjoy the big riffs and a hook laden chorus, great song. "Golden Boy" has some early Def Leppard influences. The superb melodic Red Skies is the best song of the album, fantastic guitars with layers of melodies and a chorus with strong hooklines. "All Fall Down" has some traces of sleaze and reminds of a CrashDiet and harder Ratt, cool song. Tyranny Of Minority is a very solid hardrock album that makes me think of Dokken, Ratt, Saxon and Skid Row mixed in a nice way. So if you´re into guitar driven melodic hardrock that´s well produced, you should give Vendetta a chance.
