After a few years in the making New Zealand band Redline have finally released their debut recording a 6 track(excluding the intro) mini album called Trapped Inside. Redline was formed in 2003 by Chris Yong, formerly guitar player and songwriter for successful New Zealand band Tadpole. With his brother Richard joing him on drums the band started to take shape. A number of years later we have their first offical release and it´s been well worth the wait. Unfortunately with just 6 songs and a couple of those having already been released as singles in years previous it´s a case of quality over quantity. "Now" kicks it off with a great riff and a nice mix of screaming and melodic vocals and that is pretty much the blueprint for the rest of the album. Orchestral electronica is always added to tracks like Nothing Else and it really helps to give the song both a hook and extra depth. Even though this is an independent release it features excellent production and the mastering was done by well known Swedish producer Pelle Henricsson. A few months ago Redline announced they were playing their final shows in New Zealand for some time and many may have thought the bands days were over. However since then thay have scored a gig as support act for Disturbed on their tour of New Zealand starting next month. With exposure like that they may finally get the attention they deserve.
