Dominoe had a hit in Germany in 1988 with Here I Am from their debut album. Their 2nd album The Key was filled with fantastic keyboard oriented AOR with catchy hooklines. In 2002 they returned with No Silence No Lambs on MTM records which was a big disappointment. So now 6 years later they are back with a new album and a more mainstream rock/pop sounding album.
I think this is way too soft and poppy and the songs don’t hold all the way. Too many average pop songs without any hooklines. But on a couple of tracks Jörg Sieber and Robert Papst shows that they can write catchy songs. Just listen to the great Song For Nothing that has strong melodies and a brilliant up-tempo chorus with nice keyboards. There’s also a new version of Here I Am with a female vocalist doing a duet with Jörg, a great song. Irresistible is a good ballad that has radio written all over it. The vocals and production is very good but where are the songs that should hook up us listeners? This is a better album than the weak No Silence No Lambs but it don’t go all the way.
