Review

Moonspank do an incredible job at showing their creativity on this release. Many of the songs include jazz infused sounds that don’t get the respect they deserve. I wasn’t quite sure what to expect, but these guys make it work quite well. To hear what I mean you have to listen to the track “Womb Boy”. It first starts out like any other easy listening tune but then the keyboards and saxophones kick in to change the entire pace of the song along with David Kerry’s crisp, melodic vocals. It is a treat to listen to.

The strength in this album rely in the first half of this disc. Songs 1 to 6 seem to have more heart than the rest of the disc. Beyond those tracks it just feels as if I have heard it all before and don’t need to keep listening. However there are some exceptions such as “In The Rain” and the instrumental piece “Toddeus”, this is one groovy sounding track! I love it!

These guys have a ton of talent and have taken a chance at working with a sound that doesn’t garner too much mainstream love. It shouldn’t keep you from checking these guys out. This album is worth a listen and hopefully people give it a chance, it may surprise you.

Did you know that?

"green day" is a slang term for spending a day smoking marajuana. Billie Joe Armstrong wrote a song called "Green Day" about his first experience with the drug, and it soon replaced "Sweet Children" as the band´s name.
