Boy meets girl. Boy falls in love. Girl doesn´t. (500) Days of Summer is an upcoming 2009 American romantic comedy film. Directed by Marc Webb, produced by Mark Waters, and stars Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Zooey Deschanel. This is Gordon-Levitt and Deschanel´s second movie together (following Manic). The 500 Days of Summer Soundtrack will hit store shelves on July 14th through Sire Records, three days before the film officially opens in theaters. The track listing is almost too good to be true. Full of indie rock (which if you have read my reviews, you can tell I love myself some indie rock) and other favorite classic hits. The movie is being billed as an anti-romantic comedy and I’m sure this will most likely be the romantic comedy of the summer for the indie’s. Looks like something between Nick and Norah’s Infinite playlist and the other summer blockbuster of the year The Proposal. The Temper Trap song that is featured in the trailer which resembles U2 is a great song, hopefully boosts some promo for the band.
The first movie preview i saw seemed pretty good but now looking at the soundtrack, I will most likely see the movie. You get The Smiths (one of my favorite bands), Regina Spektor, Doves, WolfMother, Feist, Hall and Oats and She & Him. 2 great Smith’s songs included on this soundtrack, “There Is A Light That Never Goes Out” and “Please, Please, Please Let Me Get what I Want.” A pleasant surprise was the Pixies cover of "Here Comes Your Man" by Meaghan Smith. Last on the album is the She & him version of the classic as well, which you won’t find on the She & Him album. I couldn’t possibly tell you the amount of movies I have heard “You Make My Dreams” by Hall & Oates in movies. It’s a classic upbeat tune that gets you smiling. I think this movie will do well, based off he soundtrack alone. I will be heading to the theater to see this one. Zoey really doesn’t disappoint wit her semi-depressed blank faced humor. Plus this soundtrack, who can pass that up?
While opening for Ozzy, Motley Crue engaged in a gross out contest of one upmanship with Ozzy. Ozzy won by snorting a line of ants and drinking his own urine while wearing a sundress at a hotel pool.
