If you followed this site highly enough, so perhaps you have noticed the nice band The Format with two full-length album in Interventions + Lullabies (Elektra, 2003) and Dog Problems (The Vanity Label, 2006). Although they had a very catchy sound and good songs, unfortunately it did not happen that much and the band broke up in 2008.
But from the ashes from this band Nate Ruess as the only remaining member has delivered an album even better than he has been involved in previously. With help from Roger Joseph Manning Jr, The former keyboardist of Jellyfish, Andrew Dost, of Anathallo, and Jack Antonoff, of Steel Train they have created the album filled with stylish 70's pop. This sounds very much like a mix of Beach Boys, Cheap Trick and Queen, but with its own little wacky touch ala Jude, which makes it charming but still interesting. So if you are on pop in a classic sounding pop this album is a pure must. Want a sequel now!
