Review

The Swedish trio Slowman - Guitar/vocals, Stefan Rosén - Drums and Bengt Alm - Bass are celebrating Jimi Hendrix with this cover album of 11 Hendrix classics and one new original track "Electric angel". Time sure flies by because it´s 40 years ago Hendrix passed away and he truly went away too soon at the age of 27 with only 3 albums released, "Are you experienced" (1967), "Axis Bold as love" (1967) and "Electric ladyland" (1968) plus several albums released after his death. Slowman and friends do competent versions in a more bluesy and rootsy way but I miss the edge of Hendrix guitar sound, these cover versions sound too nice. It´s pretty hard to turn down solid versions of classics like "Fire", "Manic depression", "Little wing", "Foxy lady" and "Voodoo child" anyhow so I think this album is worth 2,5 stars.

Did you know that?

Def Leppard“s drummer, Rick Allen, lost an arm in a car crash in 1984. However, Rick decided to keep on playing, and learned to do it with his feet and some programmed drum lines. The band continued as normal, and their next album with their "new" drummer was "Hysteria".
