Review

Woah, this was a much surprising comeback! If we turn back time to 2002, the soundtrack of my summer was Atticus Fault´s debut album that still is one of my favorite alternative rock albums. You might remember "My first trip to Mars"? Not the biggest hit of the year but certainly the biggest song for me, my knees still get weak from hearing this beautiful song. Space rock the modern way so to speak. So what about the band in 2010? 3/4 members are still in the band except bassplayer Chris Laurent who is replaced by Troy Deaton, but frontman Todd Evans is still around giving us the true Atticus Fault sound along with his other bandpal´s Jason Noe on guitar and Paul Asciutto on drums.

The new album "Bombs cannot wake" is definitely a grower, the music isn´t as direct as the first album but the magic vibes are still there. AF deliver an atmospheric sea of sounds and I can´t help to think about this band as a close and old friend that has come to visit once again. The 2nd time I listen to this 13 track album, I immediately start to feel that I´m gonna love this album almost as much as the first record. Songs like "See the sound" and "Long way to the sun" are convincing enough to make me think this sort of music is truly needed in our climate today. I feel this genre is an important piece of the puzzle that will be rather missed if bands like Atticus Fault and Flickerstick would go away.

Did you know that?

The 1975 Kiss song “Beth”, written by Peter Criss & Stan Penridge, was originally titled “Beck” after the wife of Chelsea member Mike Brand.
