Youtube star and up-and-coming star Chloe Temtchine is about to release her debut album in September. She took time to answer some questions from Melodic.net. Here are the answers.

Hi there Chloe, how are you?
Chloe Temtchine: I’m great! Thank you!

Tell us about yourself, who are you?
Chloe Temtchine: I’m trying to figure that out myself. I’m a singer, songwriter, piano and guitar player. I sing in English, Spanish and French.

How would you describe your music?
Chloe Temtchine: Organic soulful pop

What goal have you set with your own career?
Chloe Temtchine: I have a few main goals:
One of them is to be Sting in the sense that I want to live in his house in England, not necessarily marry his wife and have his children, but be able to build an extremely successful career for myself in music as both a musician and as a songwriter.

My main goal is to make a difference in people’s lives, whether it be one person or millions of people. Not to sound corny, but music has saved me in the sense that it has changed my way of seeing life when I have been in very dark places. Since it has the power to do such a thing to me, I can only wish that I can create music that helps another see that there is hope when it appears to be lost.

My third goal is to make enough money to buy my mother a home in Hawaii, buy my father a car that is not bright red (which it is now) and that has four doors and a working stereo, and to hire a very strong man to help me carry my keyboard and guitar to all my gigs.

When did you start play music?
Chloe Temtchine: From the day I was born, I cried like a goat. I sounded like I was trying to sing opera in my cradle. I started dabbling at the piano when I was about 8. I would listen to the radio, usually while people were talking to me, and then run into my room and try to figure out on the piano how to play the chords I had just heard. To this day, if the music is on, it’s very hard for me to listen to anyone. My attention goes right to the melody.

Who would you say is/has been the biggest influence on your music?
Chloe Temtchine: My first and biggest influence was gospel music. On weekends, from the age of about 7 years old, my father brought me to churches in Harlem and I would sit there for hours listening to sermons and voices that stirred up every possible emotion.

I ended up memorizing songs and singing in a few churches for fun.
Another huge influence was a singer/songwriter/producer, Crystal Johnson. I met her when I was 13. I pretty much moved in with her. She became my musical mentor.

I remember seeing you on YouTube doing cover songs. Did you ever think that it would lead to this?
Chloe Temtchine: I hoped it would! I have David Choi to thank! He’s a singer, songwriter, and producer, and more importantly one of the nicest people I’ve ever met. He’s the reason I began posting music on youtube. I was living in the Stone Age, and he convinced me that I had to become a modern woman, take the plunge and begin using the internet as a means of exposing my music.

What happened when you were “discovered” as an artist?
Chloe Temtchine: I was very happy.

How much of the material on your album is written or co-written by you?
Chloe Temtchine: All of the music is written completely by me with the exception of two of the songs that I co-wrote with other wonderful writers: Marc Nelkin, David Gamson, and Tobias Karlsson.

What are your plans for the nearest future, going on tour?
Chloe Temtchine: The plan is to find any means possible to expose my music. I do hope to be going on tour...soon.

Who would you share a stage with in a dream scenario?
Chloe Temtchine: Uh oh...I hope I’m allowed many:
Stevie Wonder, Jamie Foxx, Sting, John Mayer, Smokie Norful, J Moss, Jason Mraz and an amazing guitar player by the name of James Fox, who played a few gigs with me while I was in the U.K.

Thank you for answering the questions, any final words for our readers?
Chloe Temtchine: Thank you to anyone who has taken an interest in me. I look forward to creating great music that I hope will inspire you in some way. Please keep in touch. My website is www.chloeqt.com.
