In 1979 Jerry-Kelly started to work on the 2nd album but it turned out to be called by a bandname and it was Dakota. So in 1980 the debut album from Dakota saw the light of day. Soundwise it was very much the same as the debut album from Jerry-Kelly but this time they came up with more stronger and better songs that carried through the whole album.

So in 2002 this album got a re-release and remastered with 2 fantastic bonus-tracks.
If you?re into classy AOR and love bands like Survivor, Le Roux, Franke & The Knockouts, 707, 38 Special and Toto, you can?t be without this gem.
It don?t get much better than the opening track "If It Takes All Night". Just listen to the brilliant harmonyvocals that are huge and makes you wanna sing-a-long on the chorus that also features lovely 80s keyboards.

Another winner is the AOR-rocker "One Step" with great hooks and dut-dut keys in the chorus.
If you?re looking for some POMP then listen to "Lady", this is a fantastic up-tempo song with a pompish chorus with superb background vocals.
As I said earlier in this review the bonustracks are fantastic. "The Higher You Rise" is a marvellous AOR-song with a perfect chorus that hooks you up right away. The chorus is filled with huge hooklines and keyboards that reminds of Le Roux?s "So Fired Up".
"Give Love Another Try" is also an awesome AOR-rocker with a chorus that lifts up the song. This is classy stuff and is in the same league as Journey for sure.
My conclusion is that this is an album that has more highlights than the Jerry-Kelly album and Dakota?s self titled effort is even better now when it has been a re-issued with 2 awesome bonus-tracks.

Great AOR album from the early 80s that you definitely should check out if you don?t already own a copy of it.
