Gazpacho is a Spanish cold soup but also a moody progressive act from Norway with the fine debut "Bravo" (2003) that took the listener on a journey in the Norwegian mountains like a dreamy melancholic flight of an eagle.
They supported Marillion on their 2004 European tour and worked with producer Steve Lyon (Depeche Mode,The Cure) on the track "Substitute for murder" on the new album "When Earth lets go" which is a lot better than the debut.
I thought they were a bit overambitious on "Bravo" with wanting too much with everything from production to songwriting and performance but on the new album, there?s a more solid structure through the whole album.
"When Earth lets go" is not as progressive as the debut,it?s more mysterious and even has some Bj?rk influences here and there over the songs.
The album opens in an impressive way with "Snowman" and "Put it in the air",just sit down and enjoy the flood of impressions that is coming out of the speakers.......if the album would continue in this adorable way-it would?ve been a top 20 record but the level of the songs drops a bit in the midpart.
It ends though with the 2 beautiful tracks "Dinglers horses" and the title track "When Earth lets go",I still here lots of AHA harmonies in their music which shines through more on these tracks.
Unique sound these Norwegians have,supercool!

The Goo Goo Dolls initially consisted of John Rzeznik (vocals, guitar), Robby Takac (vocals, bass guitar) and George Tutuska (drums, percussion). While Takac and Tutuska had been long-time friends in school, Rzeznik was playing in the band The Beaumonts, with Takac’s cousin. The three founded the band under the name "Sex Maggots". However, when a club owner booked the band, he requested they change the name, as the local newspaper could not print their current name. The trio picked the current name out of a True Detective ad for a toy called a Goo Goo Doll.
