The Finnish foursome The Rasmus are back with a brand new album and a follow up to their big smash hit album Dead Letters.
Now in 2005 they are back with their 6th album Hide From The Sun and I?m sure most of you have already heard the lead single "No Fear" that is a fantastic hookladen power rock song.
Hide From The Sun won?t let down anybody that owns a copy of Dead Letters because this is a great follow up to that album with glorious melodies with dark lyrics.
But I have to say that a couple of the songs on this new album has a heavier approach with tougher guitars and the addition of strings and piano has gone from straight to straight.
This album was recorded in Stockholm with producers Martin Hansen and Mikael Nord Andersson, the same duo responsible for the band?s last two albums and they have come up with a brilliant sound.

Out of the 11 tracks ,there will by many candidates for the next single release as the already mentioned No Fear with hints of Bon Jovi?s It?s My Life, one of the best songs I have heard with Rasmus which has a "In The Shadow" feel over it as well. Huge song.
The dark "Lucifer?s Angel" is another winner with a stunning refrain with huge hooks and riffs,"Dead Promises" with string arrangements by Finnish metallers-with-cellos Apocalyptica is a clear winner with huges hooklines in the chorus and heavy riffs. "Immortal" is after "No Fear" my personal favorite of the album where Lauri Yl?nen sings with heart and soul. The chorus is stunning with outstanding melodies and riffs. This song has a hit feel over it.
"Keep Your Heart Broken" contains beautiful melodies set against the cutting lyrics and with intense heavy guitars, great stuff.
They end the album with a ballad as always and this is a song where the chorus reminds of Bon Jovi?s "Always" in the melodies and is not as dark as we?are used to hear from Rasmus, future single release for sure.
Not all the songs are clear hits right away and needs a couple of spins before they hook you up. The opening "Shot" and "Sail Away" are two tracks that didn?t convince me and are the only let downs on the album. This is a safe album to buy if you?re into THE RASMUS and I?m sure this will please the fans but I?m not sure if it will beat Dead Letters that has sold over 1,5 million copies. The Rasmus don?t need to hide from the sun - they are here to rock the world.
