Reviewed by: Kaj Roth Add to MySpace Add to Facebook After 2 self released albums,the Norwegian progrock band Gazpacho signed with Intact records and became label mates with Marillion who Gazpacho supported on their 2004 tour. Marillion?s guitarist Steve Rothery has also contributed with some splendid guitarwork on the track "Do you know what you are saying?" on the new album. This band has a unique style like a progressive version of AHA,their first record was more progressive than the second one which was more mellow and melancholy but the problem with "Bravo" was the use of too many programmed drum machines and sequencers. I think "When Earth lets go" is a better album and with a drummer in the band namely Robert Risberget Johansen who?s in charge of the percussion - the band has reached it?s right sound and it is with joy and excitement I can present to you,their best album so far with "Firebird". Get spellbinded by the hauntingly beautiful "Orion",the more rocking "Prisoner" shows the band is not standing so far from popular bands like Mew and AHA but the track of the album is the opening track "Vulture" that goes under the category *Cloudwalking tunes* - ahyes,heavenly indeed. It?s just a matter of time before this band will work with Bj?rk coz the song "Jezebel" sounds like something the Icelandic song princess could?ve recorded. It?s not a question about if Gazpacho?s new album is good or not,it?s all about HOW good it is.......and let me tell you - IT?S VERY GOOD!
