Walk The Sky is a new interesting band that plays old-school melodic hardrock like it was made back in the mid 80s and they don?t follow any trends.
I was really surprised how good this album sounded with a bombastic production, truly an album for those that miss the good old days with bands like Dokken and Stryper - the singer Rob Bonstin is a deadringer for Michael Sweet of Stryper.
This album is filled with powerful guitar riffs, melodic vocal harmonies and superb background vocals. This is a very strong 80s sounding album with a hint of 70s hardrock on a few tracks. It has a couple of fillers and it?s when they go down the bluesy 70s hardrock highway they lose the sense of good melodies.
Songs like "Snake Eyes", "Make Up Your Mind" and "What You Need" feels out of place if you compare it with the rest of the album that is filled with high-class hardrock.

The opening of the album is fantastic with "Castles In The Sand" that is a straight ahead riff based rocker with wonderful background vocals and this is a song that brings Stryper?s "In God We Trust" album in mind.
"Lay It On The Line" continues in the same line with great guitars and a bombastic sound, they have come up with a really nice cover version of the Touch classic "Don?t You Know What Love Is" - Ok, they don?t beat the Touch version but this one has a airguitar warning because they have replaced the keyboards with guitars and they have done the harmony vocals very impressive. Classic song in a new great version.
The semi-ballad "Always Remember" has a
strong chorus which again reminds of Stryper. Walk the sky has recorded a good cd that came as a big surprise and really hooked me up. So if you?re into 80s commercial hardrock with plenty of hooks and melodies then check out this band.

My rating:
-This is one of the best releases I?ve heard in a long while. It is an Indie to boot. They are a guitar dominant 80?s metal with a hint of 70?s vibe. Every song is laden with melodic hooks and huge choruses. The vocalist is a cross between James La Brie and Michael Sweet, the drumming is solid, the bass is pounding, and the guitarist shreds a la Rhoads, Yngwie, Lynch....A must have for evry melodic metal collection!

-Personally, I love this cd! This disc could have been huge had it come out in 1987-88. I really like the bluesier songs on the disc as it add some variety. Rick Hunter-Martinez can seriously shred and Rob Bonstin sounds fantastic! The rythmn section is rock solid, too. You should definitely give this one a try.

311 is the police code for indecent exposure in Omaha, Nebraska. The name was erroneously thought to be an allusion to the Ku Klux Klan, and band members have given various other explanations in the past.
