Rich Ward from funkrockers Stuck Mojo turns the key and has opened the door to the 80?s land with a mix of hammering modern metal and catchy melodic songs in the Extreme vein. Singer Eddie Gowan has a real nice voice and on tunes like "Around the world" I can?t see how they could fail. "Autumn brings" is one of the fave?s but the whole album is a killer. Last year it was Stereomud that took the throne of the best Hard rock album but this year Sick Speed?s debut is up there fighting! I love the production by Andy Smeap who really knows how to make the guitars wanna come out of the speaker system. Right now it?s 3 albums that never leaves the cd player,Goo Goo Dolls,Matthew Good band and Sick Speed...aint life good!

My rating:
-No filler just killers. That clich? fits this album perfectly. Around The World is the top gem but the variety is fantastic and the songs which Rich Ward sings on himself are generally a little heavier than the ones featuring Eddie Gowan. I have not heard an American numetal album I rather listen to than this. None of these groups do anything very experimental and they sound similar to each other but Sick Speed in some way combines the best with numetal and classic hard rock metal. Rich Ward let the Stuck Mojo influence just shine a small bit, but it fits. The man is a genius when it comes to song writing. He writes very catchy melodie, however, Sick Speed is much more to the point and in your face than Extreme. This album should be followed up and be pushed by a major label as one very good example of the revival of the good metal/hard rock. The Darkness is another example of this revival but in another genre. Wig Wam from Norway revitalisises the glam scene. Sick Speed should go on a write new songs.
