Reviewed by: Kaj Roth Add to MySpace Add to Facebook The comeback album from California westcoast pop band America is surprisingly enough produced by James Iha (Smashing Pumpkins) and Adam Schlesinger (Fountains of Wayne) who both are huge fans of the band. They haven?t tried to modernize the sound of this classic 70?s band who formed in 1967 and had a handful of Top 10 hits in the 70?s, it still sounds a whole lot like their early albums with that typical and amazing harmony vocals in the same league as Eagles and Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young. This is a double disc with one studio cd featuring new songs by Gerry Beckley and Dewey Bunnell, plus a live cd recorded in 2005 where the sound is fantastic! I haven?t heard a live cd sound this good since Eagles Hell Freezes Over (1994). The live album contains all their classic hits form the 70?s like "Tin man", "Lonely people", "A horse with no name" and "Ventura highway". The studio album is a lovely trip of California pop with new America pearls such as "One chance", "Love and leaving" and "Chasing rainbows", Adam Schlesinger also contributed with 2 songs - "Ride on" and "Work to do". This is the right album to relax to!
