Reviewed by: Kaj Roth Add to MySpace Add to Facebook The demos from Swedish pop metal band Dead By April leaked over a year ago and now finally, their debut album is released featuring the hit single "Losing you" that is #1 on the Swedish single charts. Compared to the demos, the production is more radio friendly on the self titled album where the guitars are lower in the mix. DBA is a bit like In Flames meeting Backstreet Boys, just listen to "What can I say" and you will agree. Sure, the kids will like this album but I just cannot see how the true metal fans will think of this album when almost every chorus is pop-oriented. The die hard pop fan won't be too excited either about all growlin parts, DBA is standing in "nowhere land" so to speak. Still, the band has potential to be real big and there are several great songs among these 13 tracks. "Angels of clarity" and "Stronger" are knockout tracks but not really single contenders, my bet is on "What can I say" as the next song to hit the airwaves. I say more N'SYNC haha.I liked a few songs on the CD "Angels Of Clarity" really sounds like they stole a Soilwork song and put their own vocals to it (Sadly). At times I didn't really know what I was listening to. Pop, Rock, Metal, Electronica, they couldn't make up their mind. "Sorry For Everything" was a cool track as well.
