Reviewed by: Kaj Roth Add to MySpace Add to Facebook The Canadian band Kooznetz formed in 2005 where the band members all had the same influences, classic heavy metal and trash metal with bands like Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer and Yngwie Malmsteen. Their self titled debut album contains some classic metal titles like "Hit the metal" and "Works with metal", they are great musicians and the production is ok but I don't think the songs hold together like it properly should be. There are some good instrumental parts as well as a few good melodies but as an entire album, it lacks of memorable songs. Kooznetz is the Russian translation of Blacksmith which the band first was called before they changed to the Russian name. The positive side of this album is that it brings back good memories from the time when I listened to Savatage and Anvil all day long. If you want your metal clean from all kinds of numetal or popmetal, this album is the real thing. It really isn't that bad.
