The Wreckage is the first album from Will Hoge since his scooter crash a while back. However, it sounds like he was never gone.

The album starts of with the song "Hard to Love" which is a classic Will Hoge song, country flavored rock at its best. In other words, a great way of starting of an album. The highlight of the album is the first single, "Even if it Breaks Your Heart", which is an infectious mid-tempo song that displays all the good things about Will, the voice and the melodies. Other standout tracks are "Goodnight/Goodbye" with Ashley Monroe on guest vocals, the rocker "Just Like Me", and the title track which is a ballad that shows of the sensitive side of Will.

Overall, the quality of this album is very good. The producers, Ken Croomer and Charlie Brocco are doing a great job. The sound really fits Will's voice. Another thing that is really nice is that there are not bad parts of this album. I have listen to this album several times and not once have I felt the urge to skip a song. Usually an album have a dip in song quality somewhere, but not here.

One might argue that Will's sound hasn't evolved much throughout his albums, but when it works, why change? To me, this is exactly the kind of music that Will Hoge should be making. It is very good to have Will back, sounding as good as ever. The thing with Will Hoge is that his voice works with both ballads and more up-tempo songs. It is rough enough to handle the faster songs, and adds a raw nerve to the ballads. Fans of his previous albums should obviously get this one. But also you who like country flavored rock with great vocals. One of the top albums of 2009 is delivered by Will Hoge!
