Behind Brunorock is the Italian artist Bruno Kraler that has released 3 studio albums and 1 live album before War Maniacs.
His latest studio album Interaction was released on MTM in 2005 that I gave 2 stars because the album missed big hooks and memorable songs.
So this new album, War Maniacs is really a big facelift because this album sounds damn good with strong melodic hardrock/AOR songs in the veins of Fair Warning, Michael Bormann, Treat and Dark Sky.

It may not be so strange that it sound a bit like Dark Sky because Bruno was a member of that band before he went solo. The production is brilliant and he has got help from Bobby Altvater (Affair) and Alessandro Del Vecchio (Edge Of Forever and Eden’s Curse).

"Breakthrough" opens the album in a great way with strong melodies and big hooklines, a song with a Fair Warning touch. Liar is a brilliant up-tempo AOR-rocker with a strong chorus and big background vocals, a song that reminds of Tommy Denander at his peak with a Radioactive feel over it.

"Julia" is another memorable song with a superb chorus with great harmonies. "Last Ride" starts with lovely keyboards and riffs and runs out to a catchy chorus, a perfect song to have in the car.
"In Search Of Life" is a nice mid-tempo song with a Toto-esque feel over it with nice piano sound in the background.

There’s also a cover of AC/DC's "Touch Too Much" that’s OK, where they have given this song their own touch.
The album ends with the ballad Painless Skies and this is a strong song with lovely melodies with brilliant harmony vocals and it reminds of Street Talk.
Bruno sings very good and the songs has good variation, this is an album worth checking out if you're into mentioned acts. The album is very close to 4 stars because this is a strong album with great songs.
