Destiny Calls is the 2nd album from Swedish Naughty Boys. Their debut R U Naughty Enough was released 2007 but I thought it lacked good songs and the vocals were average. Their new album is a really a face-lift because on this new one they have come up with a mixture of heavy guitars, strong choruses and catchy melodies. The sound is tighter and more dirty now with a top-notch powerful production. If you remember another Swedish band called Aces High that released their great debut 1994 then you got a clue what this sounds like.
You can also hear some traces of Crash Diet, Crazy Lixx and Gotthard. Singer Micke Sandvik sounds a lot better now than he did on the debut. Endless Pain is a great rocker with strong riffs and a catchy chorus. Don’t Turn Around is filled with fantastic melodies and a powerful chorus with nice harmonies, a song that reminds of Gotthard. Eternity is a good piano ballad with strong melodies. Mid-tempo rocker Time is great with cool riffs and great hooklines. Runaway Train is another strong rocker with great riffs with a huge sound. Destiny Calls is a solid hardrock album where they have managed catch the 80s sound with a touch of the twentieth century in a nice package. So if your into Swedish sleaze hardrock then give these Naughty Boys a visit. A very even album with few weak moments.
