Here are in her own words what this new album of Sara Groves is all about: “I am more grateful now than ever to be able to process my life through songwriting. This album is a very personal account of a handful of things that have been on my mind…love, forgiveness, hometowns, hope… Thank you for listening! Love – Sara “ Of course I couldn’t have said it any better and it’s true. The album produced by veteran Charlie Peacock is the most personal album of Sara to this date. She shares with us listeners things that occurred in 15 years of marriage with her husband Troy. She also has three kids that make this marriage complete. Perhaps you can imagine that there is plenty to write about. The difficulty for an artist is to write songs in such a way that enables the listeners to relate to the things happening in your life. Sara surely succeeded in that effort and the result is a very delicate and intimate album in which the artist opens her heart to us.
The songs are piano-based folk songs with the beautiful voice of Sara Groves at the centre of it. Listen for example to beautiful songs like “Love”, “Fireflies and Songs”, “It’s me”, “This House” and “From this one place”. Other songs I want to pick out are the uptempo, bluegrass song “Setting up the pins” that has a different style than the rest of the album ( but that’s no problem) and the closer “Joy is in our hearts” which is a worthy worshipful closer of this very good album.
Between all the rockalbums in my collection this honost and personal album is an oasis of rest and a breath of fresh air. If you people have never heard of Sara Groves before, this album is your change to get to know her and her music. It will be worth it.
